Every year, Berlin district offices submit applications to the Berlin Senate for approval of Christmas lighting, which predominantly illuminates shopping streets.

In the following locations, the lighting has been approved and spreads a Christmas atmosphere during Advent.

The Christmas illuminated Europacenter next to the Christmas market at Breitscheidplatz is a popular place to visit during the Christmas season.

Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf

The popular Christmas lights around Kurfürstendamm and Tauentzien will be ceremoniously switched on on Tuesday, November 23, 2021.
The imposing Christmas tree on Breitscheidplatz will spread festive glow with the opening of the Christmas market there from November 22. Breite Strasse and Berkaer Strasse in Schmargendorf and Reichsstrasse in Westend will also be illuminated for Christmas.

Lichtenberg

In 2021, Weitlingstraße between the Lichtenberg S-Bahn station and Münsterlandplatz will be illuminated for the second time at Christmas. In front of Lichtenberg City Hall and on the forecourt of Wartenberg S-Bahn station are two beautifully illuminated Christmas trees.

Marzahn-Hellersdorf

Under the motto “Christmas Promenade,” the Marzahn Promenade will once again shine in festive splendor from November 22, 2021 to January 10, 2022. A special highlight is the large Christmas tree on Fritz-Lang-Platz.

Mitte

On the boulevard Unter den Linden, the trees between Pariser Platz and Universitätsstraße will be illuminated.
Friedrichstraße also gets a festive illumination thanks to funds from the Senate Department uznd the Spielbank Berlin.

Neukölln

The shopping street Alt-Rudow and Karl-Marx-Straße will be illuminated festively.
The historic Richardplatz will also shine in Christmas splendor – despite the Rixdorf Christmas Market being canceled for this year.

Pankow

The facades of the shopping centers in Prenzlauer Berg and Pankow will once again shine in festive splendor during Advent.

Steglitz-Zehlendorf

Teltower Damm in Zehlendorf shines in Christmas splendor from November to January. In Lichterfelde-Ost, Oberhofer Weg and the stores around Kranoldplatz show their festive side. The shopping centers on Schloßstrasse in Steglitz will also be awaiting their customers again in 2021 with Christmas lights.

Tempelhof-Schöneberg

The Tempelhofer Damm will once again be illuminated at Christmas in 2021 by local businesses and stores. Bright and friendly, the many lights on the lanterns shine and transform the shopping street into a warm sea of lights. No fewer than three Christmas trees spread a festive mood in the district: two stand on the forecourt of Schöneberg City Hall, one in front of Tempelhof City Hall.
In Lichtenrad’s Bahnhofstrasse, the business street management organized various Christmas activities together with local traders, such as festively decorating the street with light elements on the roofs and fairy lights in the trees and an Advent calendar.

Treptow-Köpenick

As in previous years, the old town of Köpenick is illuminated on the Schlossplatz, the street Alt-Köpenick and on parts of the Grünstraße. A festively decorated Christmas tree lights up across from Köpenick City Hall. More information on the Christmas lighting in the Berlin districts in 2021 will follow shortly.
